One Tree Hill Board
Tarring of Footpaths A meeting of the One Tree Hill Road Board was held last evening, the chairman, Mr. R. G. Clark, presiding ever a full attendance of members. The engineer, in his report, stated that there was some justification for the complaints lodged regarding the conditions of Church and Neilson Streets. There w€;re no footpaths, and the roads were of rough scoria, he said. Upon his recommendation, the board sanctioned the spending of £326 on the formation, tarring, and shelling of the following footpaths: In Church Street, from Onehunga bounary to Neilson Street, on to O’Rorke Road, and in Lower Neilson Street, from Coates Road to Church Street. Master Bros., milk vendors, wrote asking the hoard to consider granting them a concession i y water rates, stating that they had used 038,000 gallons during the past six months. The board decided to reduce the rate of charge to Is 3d a thousand gallons, provided they used not less than half a million gallons a month. The Mount Roskill Road Board Wrote asking if the board could supply them with a million gallons of water a month at tenpence a thousand gallons. The board agreed to supply the water. St. Cuthbert’s College was granted permission to run the water used in cleaning the filters of their swimming baths into the board’s sewers, provided they do so under the superintendence of a board inspector. The traffic inspector reported that cars were being parked in side streets in the board’s district without lights. The board decided to enforce the by-law, compelling all cars to show lights except when parked under the glare of street lamps. The inspector was authorised to prosecute offenders
