SOUTH AUCKLAND DOINGS NEW SUB-UNION PROPOSED (From Our Oxen Correspondexit.J PUKEKOHE, To-daj\ The South Auckland Rugby Union met at Pukekohe yesterday, the president, Mr. J. Bean, presiding. Mr. E. Pollock, of Pukekohe, was appointed referee for the Auckland B versus South Auckland representative ‘match to be played at Pukekohe on Saturday. The secretary (Mr. W. J. Short) was appointed as the union s representative on the South Auckland Referees’ Association. The president and the secretary were asked to bring down a suggested by-law governing residential qualifications. The Waikato Union advised that it* could, not meet the South Auckland representatives in a match this season, but suggested that it communicate with the Waikato Sub-Unions on the matter. SUB-UNION AT- HUNTLY? The question of a sub-union being constituted at Huntly, as suggested by tlio president of the New Zealand Union at a recent conference held at Hami ton, was given some discussion, it being eventually decided to refer the matter to the Waikare Sub-union, which body has jurisdiction over that portion of the district, for a report to be furnished to the next meeting of ! the union. It was decided that no senior inter-sub-union fixtures be played while the South Auckland representatives were engaged and that all senior competitions be postponed whenever the same team was playing at home. The date for the commencement of the inter-sub-union competitions was fixed for July 23. It was decided to play a trial match, Pukekohe and Waiuku combined v. Franklin, Manukau and Waikare prior to the return match with the Auckland B reps. Mr. J. Pollock gave notice of his intention to move that the affiliation fee be reduced from £ 5 5s to £2 2s. THE WAIPA UNION BUSINESS FOR THE WEEK The weekly meeting of the Waipa Rugby Union was held on Monday evening, Mr. F. Quin presiding. There were also present: Messrs. A. A. Reese. E. T. Crump, S. A. McNamara, W. Whitton, W. Cavanagh, W. McCarthy, G. Jeffs, G. Reynolds, G. W. Mairs, G. S. Clarke, and W. M. Winter (secretary). The Matamata Union advised the following dates for matches for the Boyce Cup:—Morrinsville, July 2; Waipa, July 16; Cambridge, July 30. The Cambridge Rugby Union approved of June 25 for a visit of its senior representatives to play Waipa. It was also asked that Waipa send their B team to Cambridge on the same date. The arrangement was agreed to. The balance of the period of disqualification imposed nearly two years ago of J. Harper, formerly of Pirongia Club, was remitted, intimation to this effect to be forwarded to the Waikato Union. To Awamutu, Cambridge, Pio Pio and Te Kuiti Bistrict High Schools notified their desire to contest matches for the Teddy Shield. Mr. Clark brought forw«_-d a suggestion that the union’s Chatty Bay funds be devoted this year to augmenting the Sunshine League's fund for providing a complete wireless set for use of patients in the Bailey Ward at the Waikato Hospital.
