NEW LYNN BOARD
The first meeting of the New Lynn Town Board was held in its new board rooms last evening, the chairman, Mr. W. G. Norrie, presiding. There were present: Messrs. J. S. Akehurst, J. Feilding, Isaac Hughes, C. E. H. Putt and R. P. Ward. A discussion of an hour’s luratio.i took place on the question of the relative merits of certain steam and oi! road rollers. Messrs. Isaac Hughes and Feilding were strongly opposed to holding demonstrations by firms tendering for machinery for the board on the roads under its jurisdiction, on the principle that it was not right for the board to get work done for nothing and further that the roads wire often left torn up after such demonstrations. The building inspector reported that during the past fortnight three building permits were issued, involving a cost of £1,675. A new by-law will shortly come into force allowing subdivisions into oneflfth of an acre sections instead of aquarter acre, hitherto required by the board. Such sections, howe\ er, must contain a frontage of 50 feet as a minimum.
