NEW TOURIST ROAD
The road to connect the Waimamaku district with the railway at Donnelly’s Crossing is expected to be completed by Christmas. This will be one of the finest tourist routes in New Zealand, as it will traverse for about 12 miles the famous Wanpua State Kauri Forests. Large numbers of men are working from both ends, and the settlers are organising a monster gathering to which the Prime Minister and Colonel Allen Bell are to be invited as a recognition of their efforts to give the long-desired access to the railway.
