IN CIVIL LIFE SPEECH BY HON. A. D. MCLEOD By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyright Received 11.15 a.m. MELBOURNE, To-day. The representatives of Canada, South Africa and New Zealand, who attended^ the opening of the Federal Parliament in Canberra, were entertained at a civic receptior by the Lord Mayor. The Hon. A. D. McLeod, responding on behalf of New Zealand, expressed his appreciation of the manner in which the people of Australia had received the Dominions’ representatives. “We in New Zealand,” he said, “are closest to Australia, and New Zealand has a deep affection for Australians. There are 40,000 New Zealanders in Australia, and 50,000 Australians living in New Zealaand. I wish Australians would visit New Zealand more, for we have many natural attractions and you would enjoy visiting us and getting to know us more.” —A. and N.Z.
