HARRIS—ONION
Trinity Presbyterian Church, Cambridge, was the scene of a pretty wedding recently between Madge Lyle, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Onion, Cambridge, and Albert Edward, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Harris, of Leamington. The Rev. Jas. Hay officiated, and Mrs. S. Hall presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, was daintily attired in deep creme silk georgette, finely pleated, which fell in long picol-edged panels over an underdress of soft creme silk lace, and was finished at the waist with silver leaves and a silver rose on the shoulder. Silver brocaded shoes were also worn. The long tulle veil which formed the train hung gracefully from a coronet of silver leaves and orange blossom, and a beautiful bouquet of creme chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern was carried.
The bridesmaids, Miss Helen Onion (sister of the bride) and Miss Mabel Harris (sister of the bridegroom) wore pretty frocks of finely pleated silk georgette and lace, in a deep amber shade, and wore swathings of amber tulle on their heads. They each carried a bouquet of bronze chrysanthemums and asparagus fern, and wore a gold armlet, the gift of the bridegroom. The duties of best man and groomsman were carried out by Mr. W. Harris and Mr. S. Onion respectively. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bride’s parents. The bride’s mother received the guests in a frock of navy blue rep relieved with beige, fur necklet and hat to tone. Among others present were the bridegroom’s mother, wearing a navy blue frock and hat to match, and ostrich feather wrap; Mrs. Cowling (sister of the bride), mulberry rep suit and hat, and fawn furs; Mrs. Davidson (sister of the bridegroom), bois de rose frock and hat; Mrs. A. E. Harris (aunt of the bridegroom), navy silk frock, coral trimmings, navy hat, ostrich feather wrap; Mrs. D. Harris (sister of the bridegroom), rust rep frock, fawn trimming, and hat to tone.
Mr. and Mrs. Harris were the recipients of many beautiful presents. After the reception they left by car, the bride travelling in a smart suit of foxglove rep, with small hat and fox furs. Mr. and Mrs. Harris will reside in Rotorua.
