GLUT IN OSTRICHES
Despairing of a revival in the ostrich feather industry, the Oudsthoorn (South Africa) ostrich-owners are slaughtering birds by hundreds daily. Over 200,000 have been killed recent!v, but the market is glutted with feathers, which are still pouring in as the result of pluckings from dead birds. This glut must continue for some months. Then, if the demand revives too late, it will be impossible to meet it in view of the wholesale destruction of the best breeds.
