ARMS RACE

NOT A LOCARNO TASK LEAGUE AT WORK By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright LONDON, Monday. Mr. Godfrey Locker-Lampson, Un-der-Secretary of Foreign Affairs, replying to a question in the House of Commons, said it was not proposed to call a conference of Locarno signatories with the object of seeing how they could best stop competition in disarmaments among themselves. The League of Nations was preparing the ground for a general disarmament conference.

President Coolidge’s disarmament conference opens in June and these efforts would not be furthered by fresh proposals with similar objects.— A. and N.Z.
