TE AWAMUTU BOROUGH

MEETING OF COUNCIL (From Our Oxen Correspondent .> Tl 3 AWAMUTU, To-day. His Worship the Mayor, Mr. L. G. Armstrong, presided, over the adjourned meeting of the Borough Council on Monday evening. There were also present: Crs. J. G. B. Gifford, J. Marshall, C. A. Reilly. C. Bygrave, G. Spinley, W. Swain, J. C. Montiliore and J. North. V Cr. Marshall, the recently-elected member, was welcomed by the mayor, said that Cr. Marshall was a resident of many years’ standing, and of high regard The new member suitably acknowledged the welcome, and said he would do his best in the interests of the borough. Cr. Spinley was elected deputymayor.

The following committees were appointed:—Finance, Crs. Gifford, Spinley and Relly; Works, Cr. Montifiore, and Swain; General Purposes, hrs. Bygrave, Marshall and Spinley. It was decided that the Works Committee meet, regularly on Monday events a week prior to council meetings. The Financ e Committee is to assemble on Friday for its first meeting. Cr. Marshall was appointed representative of the borough in regard to band affairs.
