NOT CONVICTED

WOMAN ALLEGES THEFT LIVED AS ACCUSED’S WIFE “T’M not going to convict the man for A that,” said Mr. F. K. Hunt. S.M., this morning when he had heard what Mrs. Mary Anne Dennison, who keeps a lodging-house in Grey Street, had to say about the alleged theft of £2l from her bedroom. Olaf Stromso, a Norwegian, aged 39, with whom she admitted having lived for years as wife with husband, stood in the dock charged with the offence. “He earned some of the money, I suppose, and gave it to you and you saved it up,” suggested the Magistrate. Mrs. Dennison said that this was so.

“Then to all intents and purposes he’s your husband?”

“Yes,” she said. The Magistrate refused to convict Stromso and dismissed the case.
