£3O
Football Competition
THIS WEEK’S PRIZE
'JHHERE is bigger money than ever for THE SUN’S BIG FOOTBALL COMPETITION. Last week, owing no doubt to the unexpected upsetting of the various football calculations, not one reader tabled the exact results entitling him to the big cash prize. However, there is one consolation for these unlucky ones—the money for this week will be automatically bumped up from £2O to £3O.
In last week’s competition, one competitor missed by one result only. This was J. Lawson, Bex 10, G.P.0., who forecast a win for Richmond against City. If he had been watching this match on Saturday, he must have had some thrills, because Richmond were leading right up to within a few minutes of the finish, when Ponsonby equalised the scores.
There was only one competitor who prophesied the City-Richmond match to end in a draw. Twenty-seven competitors had three results wrong. Approximate figures show that 300 were correct in the Soccer results, 120 in the Rugby, and not one in the League. An exceptionally large increase in the competitors denotes the popularity of THE SUN competition, and next week, with a £3O prize, and the privilege given to any one competitor of sending in as many coupons as he can obtain, makes attempts to send in the 12 collect results really worth while.
