Even, evidence was given that the machine was overhauled at Melbourne before arrival at Canberra. It was a reconditioned one overhauled regularly. The coroner returned a verdict of accidental death. Flying-Officer Ewen’s accident was the ninth since the Air Force arrived at Canberra to participate in the opening ceremonies. Other pilots escaped without serious injuries.

Six deaths have occurred from Air Force crashes this year, and 15 since corps was inaugurated.—A. and
