“OLD IRONSIDES”

MODEL BUILDING COMPETITION CHANCE FOR BOYS Great interest among boy readers of THE SUN is shown in the “Old Ironsides” boat building contest, for which prizes of £lO and £5 are offered fot the two best models, respectively, of “Old Ironsides,” a ship in a Paramount picture featuring Wallace Beery. The winning models are to be displayed in the leading Auckland theatres during the screening of the picture, which tells of a war waged between sailing frigates and pirate ships in the Mediterranean. The contest is open to boys up to 16, and it closes on June 30. All entries must be in the hands of the “Old Ironsides” Contest Editor, care of this paper, no later than that date. Contestants may use their own imagination in building the models. “Old Ironsides” was a sailing frigate of the period of 1804. She carried 54 mounted guns on two decks and was equipped with every known sail. The hulls of models should be between 20 and 30 inches long. Plans of the “Old Ironsides” models have been published in this newspaper.
