A SOCIAL EVENING
WAITEMATA PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE
The Waitemata Women’s Progressive League held its monthly social evening last evening in the Presbyterian Hall, Belmont.
The decorated hall was well filled with members and their friends, among the guests being Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Williamson, the Mayor and Mayoress of Takapuna. A most interesting address on the necessity for prison reform, and also on the great work being accomplished by the League of Nations, was given by Dr. Mildred Staley. During the evening mention was made of some of the activities of the Waitemata Women’s Progressive League. Foremost amongst these has been the formation of a branch of the League of Mothers in Belmont and Bayswater, and also the furthering of the Plunket Society’s work in the district.
Musical and elocutionary items were given by Mesdames Barnes and Blackwell, Misses Patterson, Verran, and Greville.
