Christchurch Faces Bad Winter

UNEMPLOYMENT TROUBLE (■Special to THE SUN.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. The unemployment situation in Christchurch is growing worse. Last week’s highest total for a single day’s applications was 17. This morning at 11.30 when a SUN man called at the Government Labour Bureau, he was informed that already 18 men had applied for work that was not forthcoming, and only one man had been placed in temporary private employment. The situation this winter promises to be very serious.
