Disarmament Conference. —A special liner conveying 50 Japanese delegates to President Coolidge’s Disarmament Conference will arrive at Genoa on jLine 6.—A. and N.Z. Thefts From Tailor.—During the week-end the premises of R. Jalfe, tailor, Upper Queen Street, were broken into and clothing valued at £2O was taken. A window at the back of the building was broken by the thieves in gaining an entrance to the building. Vicar Says “GoiSd-bye.”—Alter nineteen years’ service in the Waikato district, Archdeacon Cowie preached his last sermon on Sunday evening at St. Peter’s Church, Hamilton. He will L-e succeeded as vicar by the Rev. E. TI. Strong, of New Plymouth. Motor-car Burned. A motor-car left by the Raumai Road, near Bulls on Saturday, and after capsizing burst into flames. It was totally destroyed. A man named Leahy,? who had been given a lift by the owners, was pinned underneath the car and badly burned about the head and arms. Motors on Pier.—The Northcote Borough Council y*esterday* asked the Auckland Harbour Board to permit buses to go on to the Northcote Wharf to Aim instead of in the narrow entrance to the pier. Having heard a report on the proposal from its traffic manager, the board declined to sanction it. Fire at Mission Bay.—A fire at 7 o’clock last evening completely gutted the dwelling of Mr. R. Dixon, at Mission Bay. Owing to the distance which the brigade had to travel it was impossible to save the building. The house was a new one and the occupants were away in town at the time of the outbreak. Insurances amounted to £7OO on the house and £3OO on the furniture, both in the New Zealand office.
