BETTY'S PRESENTS
DOLL FROM THE QUEEN KING GIVES ROCKING-HORSE PARTY AT WINDSOR CASTLE By Cable.—Pros Association.—Copyright Reed. 5.30 a.m. LONDON, Wed. A life-like doll with a pathetic voice from Queen Mary, and a dappled grey rocking-horse from King George, will be Princess Betty’s most outstanding birthday gifts to-morrow unless her parents’ surprise packet from Austra lia transcends them. The only grown-up present at the party will be Princess Betty’s nurse. Their Majesties are deeply disappointed that the opening of the Cardiff Museum will keep them away, but the Royal Family made certain that the party will be of the jolliest. A nursery rhyme frieze adorns the party room, and the Honourables George and Gerald Lascelles, and Alexander Ramsay, Princess Pat’s rollicking son. who sets the pace for the castle gambols, will be the chief guests. A wondrous three-tier cake is adorned with a single pale blue candle. Princess Betty, the radiant, chuckling idol of Windsor Castle, will have her birthday again when the Renown lands a load of Australian children’s gifts.—A. and N.Z.
