OUR REPRESENTATIVE

‘’FREE FROM INSINCERITIES”

Mrs. C. Fergusson. of 32 Wheturangi Road, Green Lane, wins to-day’s prize

for the best essay on “What I Consider to be the Ideal Type of Girl for ‘Miss New Zealand 1927’ to represent the Dominion as a Film Star.” “We like to think of New Zealand as a fresh young country, straight and clean, free from the clogging traditions and insincerities of many of the older nations, and when we send a ‘Miss New Zealand’ to represent us before the world of mov-ing-picture patrons, we must see that she displays these qualities in her mind and person. “Fair to dark it matters not, but no fathomless eyes icith lowered lids and side-long glances must betray a nature of sensual langour or unrestrained passion. “Neither too tall nor too short she should be, for New Zealanders are neither cornstalks nor pigmies. Intelligence should lend vitality to her regular features, and a natural grace should enhance Iter slim figure. Eyes should be large and clear, a sunny smile testifying to charm of disposition, while little upturned corners at the mouth would hint at a wholesome sense of humour. “We hope that ‘Miss New Zealand’ will be cast in roles calling for nobility of character. We must see, therefore, that her appearance and character justify our hopes.” A cheque for £1 has been forwarded to Mrs. Fergusson.—Ed. THE SUN. IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT An arrangement has been made by the organisers of the “Miss New Zealand 1927” competition that photographs of approved candidates will be taken free of charge by the Tornquist Studios.
