Tar stains on white or coloured washing clothes should be soaked for half an hour in eucalyptus, then washed well in warm soapy water, after which the garments should be washed or boiled in the usual manner. If the stains are very bad, a second treatment may be necessary. When making light frocks (such as fuji silk and crepe de chine) which necessitate an opening or placket, instead of machine -stitching down draw a thread from the material and hem in the space left. This makes the stitching invisible.
