One More.—Another candidate, Mr. T. A. has entered the lists for the forthcoming: municipal elections at Hamilton.

Manukau Bar. —Manukau Bar was workable throughout March, with the exception of two days. It was then unworkable outwards.

Girl’s Record Swim. —Miss Edith Jenaen, aged 17, claims a world’s record for swimming for 24 hours continuously at Hamburg.—A. and N.Z.

Ohakune Mayoralty. —Mr. G. J. Goldfinch has decided to again stand for the mayoralty of Ohakune. It is understood there will be no other nomination.

Cheque Fraud Charge. —“He only arrived this morning,” said Chief Detective Cummings in asking for a remand in the case of William Richard Bavister, 31, who was charged with forging a cheque for £4 14s 6d, purporting to be drawn by Geo. Kent and Sons.

Supreme Court Holidays. The Supreme Court will be closed from tomorrow until Wednesday of next week in observance of Easter. As the holidays of the legal profession do not terminate until April 26, however, there will be no business until that date.

A New Suit.—At a meeting of* the Waihi Hospital Board held last evening it was stated that the painting and renovations to the hospital just completed had cost in the vicinity of £I,OOO.

South African Tragedy. —The Rev. ■Mr. Viljeon. who was one of the three n »en injured when an explosion blew the roof of the town hall at Dewetsdorp, has succumbed to his injuries. The other two men are also dead. —A. and N.Z.

Officers in Training. —All senior offlrers of the New Zealand Defence forces will take a training course at Takapuna in the week beginning on April 29. About 35 of them under the command of Major-General R. Young, G.0.C., N.Z. Forces, will take up their quarters at Mon Desir Hotel. The course will cover not only tactical theory, but the actual duties of the staff on the field.

A New Club.—The Papatoetoe FootClub has been allotted black and white colours. The jerseys will be v/ ith a white diamond. Teams be entered in the third, intermediate and sixth grade competitions. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron. Dr. J. Valentine; president. Mr. F. M. Waters; chairman, Mr. H. C. Webster; hon. secretary. Mr. Dobson; treasurer, Mr. J: Hamilton: committee, Messrs. Thompson, Tremain, Hamilton. Joynt ®Jid Mcßeth; selectors and coaches, Mr. J. Henderson (third grade), Mr. H. bwaffield (sixth grade).
