STOKER DF RARANGA With the Shaw, Savill and Albion Steamer, Raranga, which arrived at Auckland yesterday, came the news of a surgical operation at sea. Two days after the vessel cleared Panama, en route to Auckland, it was found necessary to operate on a stoker who had septicaemia in the arm. The ship's surgeon. Dr. R. B. Martin, carried out the operation in the steamer's saloon, the chief officer, Mr. F. G. Brooks, administering the anaesthetic. The operation was a complete success and the stoker is now back at work.
