NEW FISHING LAUNCH
FOR NORTHERN WATERS ADDED TO WHANGAREI FLEET (Froyn Our Oxen Correspondent.) WHANGAREI. To-day. A fine new launch equipped for sword-fishing is Whangarei’s latest acquisition. The new launch was specially built to the order of Mr. I\ Gardiner by an Auckland firm. She is at present moored at the town wharf. She has a length of 40 feet over all and a 10-foot beam. The 100 h.p. engine with which she is fitted gives her an ideal turn of speed, especially suited for the pursuit of the big game fish for which the Northern waters are daily becoming more famous. The cockpit is Sft. 6in. long and is fitted with steel swivel chairs and every convenience for a cruise in rough or smooth water. The main cabin is 9ft. 6in. by 9ft. Gin., and another small cabin is built forward, the engine-room being situated between the two. Mr. Gardiner intends using the launch exclusively for swordfishing and cruising, a trip to the Islands being a not unlikely inclusion in the itinerary fqr the near future.
