RELIABILITY TRIAL

HAMILTON MOTOR-CYCLE CLUB RUN TO ROTORUA A reliability trial, in which over 20 motor-cyclists will compete, has been organised by the Hamilton Motorcycle Club, and on Saturday the riders will start on a run to Rotorua and back. Punctually at 1.30 p.m. the first rider will set off, followed by pairs of motor-cyclists at three-minute intervals. The route will be to Rotorua, where the first competitor is due at about 4.30 p.m. on Saturday. A stop will be made at the thermal resort overnight and the riders will continue at about 8 a.m. on Sunday, going on to Taupo and thence back to Hamilton via Atiamuri. The first man is expected to arrive back at the starting point, Garden Place, at about 4.30 p.m. the same day. The average speed of the run will be 25 miles an hour, and four secret checks will be made on the way to Rotorua. CONDITIONS IMPOSED The general conditions of the trial are that machines will be examined both before and after the run, points being taken off for any defects which develop. The riders will be allowed a maximum speed of 27 miles an hour and a minimum of 25, five points being lost for every minute a rider is late and three points for every minute he is early. For opening tool-bags, which will be sealed, a penalty of 15 points is involved. All repairs must be made during actual running time. Immediately on arrival at Rotorua the machines will be placed in check and no competitor will be allowed to touch his motor-cycle. The awards are well-endowed, and the Chrysler Cup, presented by Mr. E. M. Valentine and valued at £ls 15s, as well as £lO cash and a gold enedal valued at £2 2s, will go to the winner.
