MEETING OF COMMITTEE (From Our Own Correspondent.) TE AWAMUTU, To-day. The last regular meeting of the Te Awamutu District High School Committee Avas held on Tuesday evening. Present: Messrs G. S. Clarke, chairman, G. F. Smith, C. W. Kickit, A. G. Weatherell and R. Ross. The secretary of the Auckland Board of Education, replying to the commitee’s request for the reinstatement of the swimming capitation for schools, said that the board was in full accord with the views expressed by the Te Awamutu committee, and had on several occasions urged the restoration of the grant from the Department of Education. The headmaster reported the roll number at the primary school was 371, with an average attendance of 336; in the secondary department the roll number was 54, with an average attendance of 50. This, as regards the primary school, was higher than it had ever been, and was regarded as satisfactory.
