TRACK DUPLICATION

PAPATOETOE RAILWAY Good progress is being maintained by the Railway Department in the formation of the double track extension to Papatoetoe. From the terminus of the present double line at Otaliuhu up to Papatoetoe the temporary track is laid, at various stages, ready to receive the permanent lines and ballast, and work on the balance of the line is making good headway. On completion of this very necessary work and the installation of the automatic signalling apparatus, the suburban services, up to Papatoetoe at least, should show signs of big improvement.
