ROAD TO KAWHIA

METAL TO BE LAID (From Our Own Correspondent.) TE AWAMUTU, To-day. The unanimous approval of the proposal by the Otorohanga County Council to metal the at present unmetalled portions of the main road between Otorohanga and Kawhia will be received with gratification by residents of Te Awamutu as well as by the settlers of the Kawhia district. The poll on the question of metalling the road was held last Tuesday, and was carried by 25 votes to nil. The total distance to be dealt with is 93 miles, and, though it is not likely that much work, owing to the near approach of winter, will be done this year, next summer will certainly see the completion of the work. Kawhia is a popular seaside resort for residents along the Main Trunk railway from Te Awamutu to Te Kuiti, and completion of the work of metalling will afford them easy access to the little town and its pleasnt fishing and sea-bathing.
