WHERE IS SHE?
THE PACER PROMENADE INTERESTING DISQUALIFICATION For some weeks past there has been much comment as to the whereabouts of the pacing mare Promenade, and the following notice published in the Official Calendar makes interesting reading:— •Disqualification: C. K. Edwards, for life, for wilfully and corruptly supplying false information by reporting the death of the mare Promenade and for refusing to give information or to make a written declaration respecting the said mare: By the New Zealand Trotting Association, 15-3-27.—J. B. Norris, secretary.” It is well known that the authorities in Auckland have been making inquiries as to the whereabouts of Promenade. Promenade is a speedy mare with some good performances against her, the best perhaps being the time when she beat Great Bingen at the Otahuhu spring meeting in 1923, in a mile and a-quarter event, going 2.49 1-5 —a 2.16 gait. Besides that victory Promenade has some fast times against her over a mile, the best being 2.11 4-5. Promenade has not competed in a race in New Zealand since May 6, 1925, and naturally such a long spell for a pacer of her description has created some surprise.
