LABOUR DISPUTE

BISCUIT WORKERS’ DEMANDS DEADLOCK REACHED The attention of the Conciliation Commissioner, M. P. Hally, was occupied this morning in hearing a dispute', brought under the Labour Dispute Investigation Act, between Auckland biscuit and confectionery workers and Messrs. Bycrofts, Ltd., and others, in regard to wages and general conditions of work. The morning was occupied in a discussion on an amended demand, including among others, a request for a 44-hour week for males and a 414hour week for females. Following a discussion taken in committee it was reported by the Commissioner that no progress had been made with the dispute, a deadlock being reached in connection with the number of hours a week set down in the demands.
