THEFTS FROM SHIP

TWO MORE SEAMEN CHARGED SEVEN ARRESTS TO DATE The crew of the steamer Middlesex must be short-handed by now. On Thursday morning four of the crew appeared on a charge of embezzling ship’s cargo, another yesterday, and this morning two more, making seven in all, stood in the dock on the same charge. John Kersw'ell Batten, 18, pleaded guilty, but William Henry Swanson, 21, denied the charge. Both were remanded to April 1, the date on which the other five will appear. Yesterday some more pillaged cargo was found by a detective in one of the ventilators aboard the Middlesex.
