LEAGUE FOOTBALL
THE GRAFTON CLUB The annual meeting of the Grafton Athletic Rugby League Football Club, held last night, was largely attended. The chairman, Mr. T. French, in welcoming home the club’s All Black representatives, Messrs. B. Avery, “Tuck” Herring and C. Dufty, complimented all three on their exemplary conduct both on and off the playing field. Mr. Avery briefly responded in a convincing and suitable manner, mentioning that all three, including almost the whole of the touring party, had merely realised their duty to New Zealand and the New Zealand Rugby League, and had at all times endeavoured to play the game. Mr. W. J. Hamill, chairman of the Auckland Rugby League, in the course of a most interesting address, laid particular stress on the desirability of cohesion and solid training of all members. The balance sheet submitted was considered highly satisfactory, and prospects for the ensLiing season appear very bright. The following officers were then elected: Patron, Mr. W. Webb; vicepatron, Mr. Pratt; president, Mr. V. Samson. Last year’s vice-presidents were re-elected, in addition to the following: Messrs. PI. Brien, A. Ren wick, J. Peters, O. Garland, F. Ruby and Con. Welson; delegate junior advisory board, Mr. A. Hopkirison; honorary secretary, Mr. C. Webb; treasurer. Mr. Dilworth; club captain, Mr. B. Avery; committee, Messrs. Neil, Gungale, J. McGregor, Nelson, McCloughen, Iluckstepp, Ratcliffe, French, Catterill and Angelo.
