GRAND THEATRE
“THE COUNTRY BEYOND” Alfred Fisher, who portrays Father John in the Fox Film’s version of James Oliver Curwood’s great story, “The Country Beyond,” now being shown at the Grand, is one of the celebrated actors of “yesteryear’s spoken stage.” He was a contemporary and intimate friend of Maurice Barrymore, father of the Lionel, John and Ethel Barrymores, of Richard Mansfield, Nat Goodwin and Charles Frohman. Fisher gives a remarkably vivid delineation of the kindly priest of the Canadian wilds who is guide, philosopher and more-than-friend to the primitive people within his jurisdiction. Olive Borden, beautiful Virginia girl, who is rapidly taking her place at the summit of cinema fame, is the star of this Fox Films adaptation of the James Oliver Curwood story. Others of importance in the cast are J. Farrell MacDonald, Evelyn Selbie, Fred Kohler, Lawford Davidson, Ralph Graves and Gertrude Astor. It is an Irving Cummings production.
