KNIFE IN THROAT
GRAVE INJURIES CHARGE AGAINST MALAYAN (Special to THE SUN.) CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. There was a serious disturbance i>. the forecastle of the British steaim-i Sheaf mount at Lyttelton yesterday afternoon. As a result, Tabet Saleh, believed io be an Egyptian, lies in a serious condition in the Christchurch Hospital, with a wound in the throat, alleged to have been caused by a knife. Joseph Howard, a British Malayan, is under arrested on a charge of having unlawfully assaulted Saleh so as to caus'him actual bodily harm. Howard appeared at a special sitting of the Lyttelton Magistrate’s Court yesterday, and was remanded to appear at Christchurch to-day, when he was remanded for a week.
