DR. L. L. SMITH, (tho only legally-qualified medical Oa all affections of tho Nervous System (no .matter from what cause arising). Ou nil broken-down constitutions. Oil all discuses arisiug from early indiscretions. On (rout, Ou Rheumatism. In those colonies, thoso excesses which we huvo indulged in " hot youth" tell upon us with fourfnl interest. I Mir regrets ure useless, our repiniugs futile. Tho solo iileu shouhl be the chances we possess of remedying the ills we already have, or combating tho effects likely to result. Hide it as he may, put on as good an exterior as he can, still is tho victim conscious that ho is a living lie, and that sooner or later his vices will discovor him to the world. Our Faith, our obligations to society at large, tho welfare of our future offspring, and tho duty we owe to ourselves forbids procrastination, uml points out to us, not to wait till the ravages breuk out in onr constitutions. Before negotiating with a merchant, before engaging with a commercial elerk ; before employing a barrister, a careful man makes enquiries as to their standing, their length of occupancy or residence; and, in the case of a legal adviser, both us to his legal qualifications and as to his capabilities of transacting the individual business he consults upon. Strange to say, however, in the selection of a medical man, the sufferer frequently omits these necessary precautions and without regard to the fitness, qualification, experience undability for the particular ailment requiring treatment, he consults the nearest man, whoso experience and practice, perhaps, lies in quite an opposite direction. It is astonishing that so many are driven mad, are ruined in health, and are bankrupt, in spirits, hope and money ? Have I not fur years pointed out to them that " I, Dr. L. 1,. Smith, am the only logally qualified medical man advertising in the colonies';"' Have 1 not also prosecuted, at my own expense, these very quacks, and exposed the various nostriums they are selling,—such us Phosphodyne, Essence of Life, &c—and had them analysed and found them to consist of '• Burnt sugar and flavoring matter," and the certificates I have proved to lie all forgeries. It is for this reason that I step out of the ethics of the profession and advertise' to gjve those who require the services of my brunch an opportunity of knowing they can consult a legally qualified man, and one, moreover, who has mode this his study.
