PHOTOGRAPHY.
Blest lio the rncm'rv of the man, Th' inventor ot' the art That touches sweet af Feet ion's chord In every human heart; That paints in lines that cannot urr, The features bout beloved, And brings as near our absent friends, However fur removed. The mother parted from her child. To mitigate her grief, Brings forth tho portrait of her pet, And straightway finds relief. Tho child when gazing on tho face Of " mother dear" at homo. Forgets tho sorrow of tho hour, And thinks of joys to come. When lovers, severed from their loves, Are mourning cruel fate, And fannying no wretchedness As theirs so sharp and groat,— Forth comes the picturo of the "dear,' Their swimming eyes to greet, Anil half their misery is lost In " foolish fondness sweet." And e'en grim death must render up A portion of his due ; For there is no forgetting friends When portrait-* ate so true; The features, faithful and exiet As those in life 'hoy boro, Smile on us from that fairw world Whore frioads shall pJi't ao moro.
