TO 'I'UE EDITOR OF THE SAMOA TIMES. Sir, —I observo in your issue of Saturday liiKt, that Mr. Mair, in his ovidonco before the Naval Court, stated that Mr. Hunt asked him to buy tho vessel ou my account. 1 beg -to stato that, although a partner of Mr. Mair's at that time, I never knew that lie wus going to buy tho vessel, and, further, that Mr. Hunt never spoke to me in reference to purchasing tho vessel, and that I know nothing about tho condemnation and -■• I" of tho schooner until hor return from opago. yv'ith reference to tho evidence of Capt. AVright, in utatmg that ho was commissioned by Mr. Hunt to buy tho vessel, I may further state that X was present with Mr. Hunt and Mr. Davis, whan Capt. Wright informed Mr. Davis that he was not employed by Mr. Hunt to go to l'agopago, but thut he wont t here onnis own business, and also that it was a piece of rascality ou the part of Mai* in stating that ho (Mair) bought tho vessel and cargo for £2l, as tho cargo was not included in the sale. Had the President of the Naval Court allowed Mr. Hunt to call witnesses, I think a very different complexion could have been put mi the most of the evidence given by Mr. Mair and his witnesses.—l am, &c, C'llAltl I s lCtKluUIi.
