14 British Airmen In Air Race To Johannesburg

Final details of the Schlesinger air race from Britain to Johannesburg on September 29. for which 14 well known British racing airmen have entered, were issued to-day by the racing committee of the "Royal Aero Club.
The race will begin from the Portsmouth airport at 6.15 a.m. The machines will start at intervals of one minute, and this difference in time will be adjusted at Cairo, which will be the only official control in the race, although the competitors must be seen turning at Zimun aerodrome at Belgrade. Imperial Airways have undertaken the responsibility of airport lighting and ground control at all known airports on the route. The airports will remain lighted all night on September 29 and 30 and October 1.
