COLLISION SEQUEL.

AT STRATFORD COURT. Driver Alleged To Be On Wrong Side. CHARGE AGAINST MOTORIST.

A sequel to a collision on the Waiwiri Road, Huiroa, on May 31» was heard in the Stratford Magistrate’s Count this morning,! when Andrew Thomas Aldridge appeared on a charge of failing to keep to the left. Sergeant C. M. Anniss prosecuted and Mr Percy Thomson represented Aldridge.

Sergeant Anniss said that on May 31, a motorist named Thompson had been descending a hill in Waiwiri Road, Huiroa, when his car had been struck by a car driven by Aldridge. The driver of the other car, W. R. Thompson, said he had been approaching a bend in the road. Witness was on his correct side close to the bank. Aldridge had been on His wrong side. Witness applied the brakes and Aldridge’s car struck his right hand front wheel. In the final position of the cars the rear of witness’ vehicle was forced into the' bank with Aldridge’s car directly in front of his. . Civil Action Proposed. To Mr Thomson witness said that the company with which his car was irsured proposed to bring a civil action against Aldridge for damages. He did not know when the action would be taken. Witness said he and his party were on their way to New Plymouth. His speed at the time of the accident was about 25 m.p.h., slightly less if anything. The other car was about eight yards from his car when he first saw it, continued witness. It was practically less than a secon 1 from the time he saw Aldridge’s car to when (he collision occurred, he admitted.
