Traffic Inspectors To Be i , Exempted AMENDMENT TO LAW. Press Association —Copyright. Wellington, To=day. Amending legislation is to be ■■inj produced shortly to exempt motoii ours driven by police and traffic officers from the 30-miles-an-liour speed limit prescribed for town and city areas in the Motor Vehicles Ainind r ment Act passed thjs session. An announcement on these lines was made on Saturday, by the Minister of Transport (Hon. It. Semple). "On looking into the position, I find that, according to the strict interpretation of the law, the speed limit applies without any exceptions," said tho Minister. "When the legislation was drafted it wrs considered that, ' v.ith the use of sirens and other 1

It is obvious,.oil course, that officers controlling the traffic on the roads must have the right to exceed the speed limit when it is nccesary for them to do so to catch an offender."
