Proposals For Increases In House. WAR WIDOWS. Press Association- —Copyright. Wellington, August 28. All the proposals in the Budget for the increase or restoration of war pensions are realised by the War Pensions Amendment Bill, which was introduced in the House of Representatives by Gov-ernor-General’s message., to-day. The features of the Bill are an increase in economic pensions to 25s a week, full restoration to the 19? d scale of economic pensions to war widows and widowed mothers and of allowances to wives and other dependents of deceased and disabled soldiers and removal of marriage restrictions on the granting of pensions and allowances to the wives and widows of ex-soldiers.

As previously announced, all increases are to be retrospective to July 1, from which date the new legislation will operate. Part of the Pensions Amendment Bill, also introduced to-day, deals with certain military pensions, From July 1 the Maori war pension is to be increased from £49 to £52 a year, and_ on December 1 this year the rate is to be further increased to £SB 10s.
