Slow, Heavy Game On Wet Field. •i FORWARDS HOLD THE DAY. Stratford thirds defeated Inglewood 9—B at Stratford yesterday. The gamfe was very heavy and slow, and though there was little difference between the score, Stratford had the, situation well in hand. , * The outstanding Stratford players were L. Jackson, V. Gray, P. Bird and Harkness. Villers made some very promising openings, hut he spoilt his play hy being caught too often in possession. The Inglewood pack played extremely well considering they only ffeided 13 men and lacked then - two best forwards, P. Davidson and Ft. Bond'.

Rfceves and Kelly played sound football, but unfortunately they were v, eakly supported. Stratford’s first score resulted from W. Davis forcing over from a loose ruck. The kick failed. Stratford again scored, when a back movement, started by Gray ,saw Villers go over for an unconverted try. The score at half time was: Stratford •■••••• 8 Inglewood 0 After resumption Bird cut through, kicked over and followed up, but railed to force. Stratford's score was raised by 3 points when L. Jackson collected from a loose scrum near the line to score around the blind side. After the kick off Jackson again cut out his man, kicked up field, followed fast, but was unable to regani possession. Inglewood’s final score originated frviii a back movement started by Beeves.
