Inquiry Into Brophy Incident, SHOOTING AFFRAY. Press Association —Copyright. '■ Melbourne, June 18. Further evidence was given by reporters to-day when the inquiry into the wounding of Superintendent Brophy was continued. Robert Lawson, a reporter of the Age, produced shorthand notes of a statement made by Detective-Inspector Mc'.Kerralion the morning following the shooting. He said he was confident the statement by Mr. McKerral produced in court was not identical with the one issued to the Press after the shooting. Reginald Warren, of the Sun Pictorial. said he interviewed Mr. Brophy at the hospital. Mr. Broph> declared it was not true' as stated in the Herald that he was decoyed to Royal Park and he was not shot there. Mr. Brophy added: "1 went to the Royal Parade on an official mission. I was standing alone with a revolver in my left hand, which became sweaty. I made an attempt to change it to the right hand and the weapon exploded and twice wounded me in the right forearm and cheek." The witness said he asked Mr. Brophy why the pistol went off twice and Mr. Brophy replied, "They are finely set." The inquiry was adjourned.
