FLEW RED FLAG.

Tobacco Workers Gn Strike In Macedonia. BARRICADED STREETS. 1 Press Association —Copyright. Saionica. May 9. Thirty were killed, including two women,* and over ICO wounded in street fighting which followed an extension of the strike of 25,000 totoacco workers throughout Macedonia.. Railway and tramway workers and others are sympathetically involved because the Government called railwaymen to the colours in order to maintain communications. The strikers barricaded the streets and flew the Red Flag. The police tried to disperse the mob by firing revolvers but the rioters speedily reassembled and attacked the police with stones and cafe chairs. The Government declared martial law and dispatched troops, tanks and armoured 'tors which' charged the barricades. Six were killed attempting to rush an armoured car wich opened fire. A three-hour battle ended with the rout at the strikers. Artillery, machine-guns and infantry are now posted in the streets. The trouble began on Friday when strikers clashed with the police and 70 were injured.
