FLAMES AT HARAR
LOOTING AND BURNING
ATTACK ON TRAIN. British Guard Helping To Keep Order. GERMAN FARMER IN TROUBLE. Press Association—" Copyright. Received 11 a.m. To day. Addis Ababa, May 8. Sir Sydney Barton learns from the British Consul at Harar that looting, burning and shooting have broken out. The Consular guard of 40 Somalia police are helping the Abyssinian Governor to maintain order pending the Italians taking over control. Many were wounded and sent to hospital. The looters ineffectually fired a fusillade at the train conveying to Djibouti the French soldiers from Addis Ababa, whither they had been despatched last week to protect the railway buildings, which they successfully accomplished. Italian cavalry was sent to the relief of a German whose wife rushed breathless into the camp saying that bandits were besieging her husband’s farm 20 miles from Addis Ababa. ITALIANS ARRIVE. A later message received from Rome states that General Graziani has occupeid Harar and captured great quantities of arms and ammunition. Ras Seyoum surrendered at Sokota.
