The trial of Hugh Urquhart Neil Gunn on a charge of murdering William Beatty at Waifepeka on February 22 was continued in the Supremo Court to-day. The cast for the Crown was cone" ed and the " "fence was opened, Gunn . nself entering the box. Counsel lor accused said that Gunn would say he was ignorant of how the injury was caused and that he did not consciously strike Beattie. He would say he picked up, a stick to urge a horse through a gateway. : it would be stated that the horse reared and -that Beattie was thrown against a straining post. Gunn wa§ never on the same side of the fiorse as Beattie, whose injuries might have been caused in a variety of ways.
