OLD BOYS OUTCLASSED.

Disappointing Display Against "Tukapa. ADLAM WORKS HARD. Stratford United Old Boys failed to come up to scratch in the opening game of the competition against Tukapa, and after a disappointing game, in which they were never in the., hunt, they were defeated by 33 points to 5. Chi Boys' only score came from a forward movement in the closing stages of the second spoil, which was finished by Kofoed forcing his way over. Lash added the other two points. The teams were: Tukapa: Papps, Webster, J. Sullivan, Courtenay; I?. Mace, Brown; Boswell, G. Sullivan; Voullaire, Sorenson; O'Bowda, Clarke, J. Mace; F. Knott, T. Sullivan. United Old. Boys; Adlarn; Cochrane, R Bond, L. Lash; McCarrison, A. Lash; W. Lash; Heath, O'Keefe, Kofoed, Murphy, Thornton; Taylor, Walker, Goodwin. Old Boys' forwards, although they got their share of the him from set scrums, were, generally speaking,, outplayed by the Tukapa pack and they afffforded the backs little protection. L. Clarke, a brother of the Stratford Club player, was prominent in the Tukapa pack. Heath, Goodman and Walker worked well in the tight but the Tukapa forwards were often on top of W. Lash, the half back, and he took a great deal of punishment throughout the game. The absence of McCrcady, the centre three-quarter, made a big hole in the Old Boys back line, which showed V lack of combination and seldom looked like an effective attacking unit. With Tukapa's fast, clever backs constantly knocking at the door, a terrific strain was thrown on the Old Boys full back, F. Adlam, and he , c rood up to the ordeal Weill. Mi' C. Evans waji the referee.
