Taranaki Women’s Executive Meets at Stratford.

of the union’s official organ, the White Ribbon, opened the conference with morning devotions, and, taking “Go Forward” rs her subject, delivered a very striking address. Excellent work
on the part of the unions was shown as each delegate outlined the year’s activities of her centre. The Maori superintendent’s report proved particularly interesting and encouraging. A satisfactory financial position was revealed by the treasurer. The morning session was closed with noon-tide devotions led by Mrs Malcolm, New Plymouth, and the discussion at length of the various reports. Reference to the work done in connection with the Seamen’s Rest at New Plymouth, one of the principal interests of the W.C.T.U., was made by Miss Drew in her remarks in the afternoon sess ion after introductory devotions led by Mrs Mclndoe, Inglewood. One of the most important events there during the year was an evening entertainment for the sailors at. Christmas time, said Miss Drew. Bags and scarves wore presented to the sailors, and a musical programme including community singing was arianged. The election of officers resulted: President, Miss G. Drew (New Plymouth); vice-president, Mrs Arthur (Inglewood); corresponding secretary, Mrs Hartmann (Hawera); recording secretary, Mrs Hayward, Auroa; treafttrer, Mrs K. Tarrant, Ngaere; superintendents, Mrs 13. McCullum (Packblocks), Mrs Mdncfoe, Inglewood (Anti-,gambling). Mrs Lawrence, Wailara (White Ribbon), Mrs Simpson, Ngaere (Notable Days), Mrs Jenkins Kith am ( Evangelistic). Mrs Lilley, Stratford (Cradle Roll), Mrs Edwards Ngaere (Literature), Mrs Hobbs (Inglewood), Home Meetings. The best methods of securing interest in meetings were dealt with by Mrs Perryman in a very interesting address. Mrs Perryman also drew attention to the value of the special
literature available and its various ; classifications and concluded with a | description of the evil effects of al- | cchol. !
