University Rugby Team Wins In Japan.

The New Zealand universities’ Rugby team for the first match of the tour was: Bush, Watt, Lewis, Grant, Fookes, Gillies, Rae, Thomas, Laney, Wilson,? Hudson, Fade, Chesterman, McVeagh and Stace, The team won by 31 to thx - ee against All Kansai at Koshien. In the first spell the Kansai forwards dominated and the half-time score was Bto 3. Definite superiority was gained only in the last quarter of an hour when the New Zealand backs showed initiative and superior pace, despite facing a, strong wind. ,
About 20,000 spectators, were present. At the conclusion of the game the local governor presented a magnificent loving cup to the team, which is being most handsomely entertained. Its time is being utilised very, profitably in seeing characteristic features of Japanese life.
