I Youth Sentenced (or Burglary I and Theft.
I EMPLOYERS TESTIFY TO HIS GOOD CHARACTER.
Sydney, December 20. j Described by Judge Sheridan as i having led a Jekyll and Hyde life, I Robert Oliver, 18, clerk, of Harbord, ; was sentenced to-day to imprisonment ; for two years.
Oliver pleaded guilty to three charges of breaking and entering shops at Manly. It was stated that he was in employment at £3 a week and when a testimonial to his character ft cm his employers was presented judge Sheridan remarked that the case had no redeeming feature. “You were working satisfactorily by day and a thief at nightr said Judge Sheridan. “The statement you have given of your past activities s hows you have made a regular business of breaking and entering.’’ “Regular Technique.” Police stated that Oliver had given every assistance when arrested. Judge Sheridan: They all do it That is the regular technique. , Wilier Oliver’s faith ey said he intended taking liis son to South Australia at the expiry of the sentence, Judge Sheridan recommended his rekase on license at the end of three months.
