SUTCLIFFE DEFENDS LARWOOD’S LEG THEORY
Press Association. —Copyright 1 London, May 1. j Making what he describes as his first | public expression of opinion on the sub- ! ject, the cricketer, H. W. Sutcliffe, in | “For England and Yorkshire,” which | was published to-day says: “On several | occasions on which I faced Larwood’s i fast leg theory attack I found it perI fectly fair in every way. Larwood never j compelled me to duck or back away.”
I Sutcliffe adds that nothing would ever I have been heard of the fast leg theory iif perfect wickets had not been proi duced to make good length fast bowling ; innocuous. Sutcliffe expresses the opinion that the new leg before wicket rule will definitely end fast leg theory bowling, but he asks whether the alteration does not swing the pendulum too far, giving the bowlers an unfair advantage.
