TRAINS TO STOP UNDER STRATFORD STATION VERANDAH.
ASSURANCE BY RAILWAY BOARD
As a result of r< presentations made to .the Government Railway Board by Hi; chairman of the Stratford Chamber of Commerce, Mr. W'm, Iloskin, doiliAle assurance has 'Uoen given l>y the Board (hat all trains at Stratford will be brought to a stop under the .station verandah and not at the unshcltmd ends of the station platform. if the engines require water Huy will be unlinked from the train and run down to the water tanks. Mr. Iloskin had first asked that the station verandah he extended the full length of the station but when the Board pointed out that the cost of such work (approximately £750) would be excessive, lie modified his request and asked (hat (he trains ho slopped under the shelter of the present verandah and (his was agreed to. The new scheme came irtto operation this morning and it will be an added service to passengers boarding or leaving trains at Stratford. j
